PCS celebrates 10th Birthday
Leading Australian employment law firm, People + Culture Strategies (“PCS“) celebrates its 10th birthday today.
PCS Founder & Managing Principal, Joydeep Hor, took the opportunity to reflect on the PCS journey.
“This journey has been and continues to be beyond exhilarating. When I set up the firm in 2010 I had a very clear purpose in mind: to be a unique solutions-provider in the people management space. PCS was never about being just another law firm in employment or workplace relations. We are proud that we are seen by our clients as being a one-stop shop for all their people management issues and needs.” Hor said.
PCS acts primarily for employers (or on the “management side”) in all aspects of people management law and strategy. The firm is renowned for its commitment to transparency in pricing and providing a wide array of options to clients when it comes to fees. The firm’s core service areas include:
– legal advice and consulting;
– investigations and dispute resolution;
– education and thought leadership; and
– strategic HR consulting.
Hor described the key success factors for the firm as being the stability of its senior leadership team. Across the firm’s other three Directors Kathryn Dent, Chris Oliver and Michelle Cooper with Tracey Pace as the firm’s COO, Hor proudly boasts that the Firm has 45 out of a possible 50 years’ service. Hor himself is regarded as one of the foremost visionaries in HR and workplace law, regularly presenting at international conferences and on all forms of Australian media.
“The PCS senior team has been a stable yet agile force of excellence in the firm. We serve some of the most prominent employers in the country and in the world and they are exceptionally well looked after as a client of our firm’s. We were trusted advisers before that phrase became a buzzphrase.”
The firm counts as its clients large multinationals and household names such as Mars, Cochlear, Virgin Active, Tesla, AustralianSuper, BaptistCare, Hilton Hotels, Aristocrat, Charter Hall and numerous others. The firm famously acted for NSW Rugby in the Israel Folau case last year. PCS is also the Australian member firm of global employment law alliance Innangard.
“Over and above the outstanding results we have achieved for our clients we are proud of our brand. We understand not just the legal and commercial aspects of people issues for employers but have developed tools employers can use to manage the psychological and sociological aspects also. We speak the language our clients speak, not just the language that lawyers speak.”
Hor speaks with great pride when talking about the philanthropic contribution PCS makes across its pillars of sport, the arts and education. “PCS is the Official People Partner of every major sport in NSW and to see our logo emblazoned at the top of the Waratahs jersey makes me want to pinch myself. We have also been the exclusive sponsor of numerous musical theatre productions through our sponsorship of Packemin Productions who have put on top shows such as Jesus Christ Superstar and Les Miserables in the last year alone.”
As to the future, Hor is confident that the PCS strategy remains focused on managed growth. “We have been very busy through the pandemic and expect that the depth of our relationships and strategic acumen will stand us in good stead for the future.”
